Greetings Laid Off LU 2200 members:
Sadly, its been over 6 months since the layoffs at DPL. I recognize how difficult it is for you in these uncertain times particularly in Detroit's economic climate.
LU 2200 maintains that the best way to resolve the staffing issues at DPL is to recall our laid off members.
I am writing to make you aware of the UAW's procedure for continuing your membership in LU 2200 after 6 months of being laid off. If you wish to continue your membership under the "out of work" credits provision, please follow the procedure described below.
Article 16, Section 18, 19 of the International Constitution reads that if a member certifies to the local that he/she is still out of work (after 6 months), then "out-of-work credits" membership continues.
The member must notify the local every month after the initial six (6) months of lay off. Notification must be given to the LU ten (10) days prior to the end of the month. When you cease to notify the LU, you will be issued a honorable withdrawal card.
Please email your request (each month) in order to continue "out of work credits" membership to LU 2200 Financial Secretary Treasurer, Sandra Bialic at
sandra.bialic@gmail.com.
This procedure goes into effect beginning with the month of January 2012. In order to continue your membership in LU 2200, please contact Sandra no later than December 21, 2011 for the month of January 2012. Then again by January 21, 2012 for February 2012 and so on. If you have any questions, please contact me.
In solidarity,
Laurie Stuart, President, LU 2200
